Background

With around 270 million people, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world (after China, India, and the United States of America). Furthermore, as around half of the total population is below the age of 30-year old, the country is considered to have a young population. Combined, these two features indicate that Indonesia currently has a large labor force; one that will only grow larger in the foreseeable future.

This big potential of manpower supported by the lack of formal domestic employment has made working abroad as an ideal option for many Indonesians. Indonesian workers are favored in many work sectors due to their politeness, patience, obedience, and aptitude to learn; which are shaped by their ethnic culture and tradition. Those characteristics unquestionably determine one's ability in adapting to a new working and living environment. Accordingly, as of 2015, over seven million Indonesians are working as foreign workers all over the world (e.g. Asia Pacific, Arab States of the Persian Gulf, Africa, etc.).

History

PDS has more than two decades of history, which began when the two company founders saw an opportunity to explore and delve into manpower supply business while working overseas. Returning to Indonesia with a mission to start an employment service company, in 1997 the founders formed the company that later became the predecessor of PT. Prima Duta Sejati (PDS).

PDS was established in 1999 and is located in Gempol, East Java – Indonesia. From 1999 to mid-2016, PDS has placed more than 100,000 workers overseas (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, etc.), trained and placed through its central office, 9 regional offices, and 7 training centers spread in Java, Sumatera, Celebes, and Nusa Tenggara. In accordance to the government’s commitment to send zero “informal” workers overseas by 2017, PDS is committed to support government’s effort, by focusing its strategy and resources in training and placing competent and qualified skilled workers.

LPK

Facility

Training facilities are essential in creating qualified and competent workers, preparing them with critical skills required for working overseas and which are not necessarily obtained in their formal education.

In 2001, PDS relocated to a 17,000 m2 property with a total of 12,000 m2 building area (includes offices, training facility, dormitories, etc.) and is able to accommodate more than 1200 recruits and close to 100 staffs. Included in the training center are: 35 classes complete with language laboratories, cooking classes, caregiver classes, baby sitting classes, a complete mini hospital training facility for nurses and caregivers, spa training facility, 2 dining halls, 210 bathrooms, 1 basketball court, 1 badminton court, 3 dormitories (total of 1200 beds), 1 prayer room, 1 mini market, 1 library and et cetera.

Currently, PDS is building one more hospital training facility to re-train our recruited nurses aiming to work in medically more advanced countries such as Japan and Singapore. This facility would be equipped with highly advanced medical equipment, which are normally utilized in these countries’ hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.

Aside from our central training center in Gempol, PDS has 6 additional regional training centers which altogether can accommodate up to 2470 trainees.

Staffs

PDS staff, including trainers, instructors, and administrative staffs are as significant if not more in creating highly qualified skilled workers.

PDS central office is supported by 40 administrative staffs handling every division according to country of destination, 35 government-certified instructors who have overseas experience, and veteran trainers; all of them have direct and significant roles in the training and placement of our workers in many countries, including but not limited to: Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Algeria, Korea, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and many more.

Curriculum

PDS implements strict requirements and wholesome training to potential workers who aim to work overseas. Selections of workers are done very carefully to ensure their quality. Furthermore, PDS has an established curriculum for teaching foreign languages in which, its efficiency has been proven for many years. Less than 3% of our workers failed on their jobs due to language inability.

PDS is also able accommodate overseas clients’ requests to recruit and train workers in skills and work sectors which thus far are not in our repertoire. We are constantly upgrading ourselves which give us an edge over our competitions.
